Socioeconomic Project Appraisal
Cost-Benefit and Cost-Effectiveness Analysis for public investment registration, with 127 projects appraised across six sectors.
We determine whether a public work or programme generates social benefits above its costs, and we document it with the rigour that public investment registration demands.
Every study begins with a diagnosis of the current situation, defines the problem and its affected population, and compares solution alternatives before appraising the selected one. The result allows the contracting agency to justify the investment decision on technical grounds and meet the regulatory requirements to access funding.
For road projects, the appraisal rests on our own traffic models. That removes any dependence on third-party studies and preserves traceability between projected demand and the benefits calculated.
Disaster risk and climate change
We incorporate disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation criteria into socioeconomic appraisal. We have developed methodological guidelines on the subject for ECLAC, SDC and COMITRAN in Central America, and for the Mexican Ministry of Finance’s General Guideline, applying techniques such as the Monte Carlo model to obtain probabilistic profitability scenarios.
